Specific Conditions

  • The maximum number of coproducers for a film shall be four, unless the competent authorities agree otherwise
  • None of the coproducers shall be linked by common management, ownership or control, save to the extent that it is inherent in the making of the co-production film itself.
  • The film-making contribution benefiting a country shall be broadly in proportion to the financial contribution of the party co-producer(s) shall be specially shot for that film No more than 20% of the total production cost may be used to source goods and services from a country other than the UK (or an EEA State), Jamaica (or a CSME member state), or the State in which the third party co-producer is established.
  • At least 90% of footage must have been specially shot for that film.
  • All work on the co-production prior to completion including studio and post-production work shall be carried out in the countries in which the party coproducers or third party coproducers are established.
  • The majority of the work including studio and post-production work shall be carried out in the country in which the party coproducer or third party coproducer making the greatest financial contribution is established.
  • All participants in the making of the film shall be nationals/residents of the UK (or an EEA State), Jamaica (or a CSME member state), or the State in which the third-party coproducer is established.
  • In the case of a co-production where the coproducers are all party coproducers, the finance-only contribution from the coproducers (taken together) must be not less than 20% and not more than 25% of the total production cost.
