Goals

The prefecture of Miyagi is well-known for its picturesque tourist sites of rich natural beauty and historical and cultural heritages. This reputation has invited a wide variety of interest from both film and TV productions, inspiring even more artistic minds nationally and internationally. We therefore believe that promotion of the screen industry in Miyagi not only increases local economic sustainability through media initiatives, but also esteems the value of traditions and legacies rooted in the region. Sendai Miyagi Film Commission (SMFC), launched on April 23, 2003, is a united regional screen agency working to develop screen cultures in Miyagi Prefecture. Combining the formerly decentralized support systems, SMFC works closely with media organizations by providing vital information of filming locations, arranging itineraries and correspondence with public institutions, and ensuring that filming activities and crewsÂ’ stays in the region proceed smoothly.
