for which he also won the Best Actor award in Venice’s Orizzonti section in 2019; also Best Actor in Cannes in 2006 for Days of Glory) and Maïwenn. Also standing out in the cast are Meriem Serbah, Rachid Bouchareb, Abel Jafri, Nina Zem, Carl Malapa, Anaïde Rozam and Lila Fernandez.

Written by Roschdy Zem and Maïwenn, the script centres on Moussa who has always been kind, selfless and there for his family — unlike his brother Ryad, a high-profile TV presenter who is widely criticised for his egocentricity by those around him. His only defender is Moussa, who feels a great admiration for his brother. One day, an accidental fall leaves Moussa with severe brain trauma. Now unrecognisable, he talks without any filter, delivering brutal home truths to friends and family alike, and ends up falling out with everyone – except Ryad…

Produced by Why Not Productions and Hole In One Films, Our Ties was pre-bought by Canal+ and Ciné+. The film’s director of photography is Julien Poupard. The film will be released in French cinemas on 23 November by Le Pacte and international sales are handled by Wild Bunch International.
