Sky unveils first-look trailer for new sports drama series The Great Game
- Directed by Fabio Resinaro and Nico Marzano, the eight-part show will star Francesco Montanari, Lorenzo Aloi, Elena Radonicich and Giancarlo Giannini among the leads
Last week, Sky released the first-look trailer for its brand-new, original, eight-episode drama series, titled The Great Game [+see also:

series profile]. The official press release labels it as a show set to explore “the high stakes of the golden yet merciless football transfer market”.
“Billionaire deals, ruthless characters, dream locations and nail-biting negotiations – the football transfer market is one of the most exciting moments in the entire football season, and this dramatisation delves behind the scenes of the dark and glamorous market through the eyes of protagonist Corso Manni,” states the communiqué.
Discredited by false accusations, Corso (played by Francesco Montanari) has gone from being the golden boy of ISG, Italy’s largest football agency, to a pariah. With the help of young agent Marco Assari (Lorenzo Aloi), Corso begins to rebuild his career by competing against his ex-wife, Elena De Gregorio (Elena Radonicich), and her father, Dino De Gregorio (Giancarlo Giannini), for the lucrative signing of football champion Quintana (Jesus Mosquera Bernal) and young talent Antonio Lagioia (Giovanni Crozza Signoris). An unexpected game of alliances and betrayals takes shape with the arrival on the scene of Sasha Kirillov (Vladimir Aleksic), an experienced agent from Russian company Plustar, who is determined to be successful on the Italian football market and win the prestigious signings held by ISG.

film profile]) and Nico Marzano, and is penned by Tommaso Capolicchio, Giacomo Durzi, Filippo Kalomenidis, Marcello Olivieri and Andrea Cotti. The script is based on a concept by Alessandro Roja in collaboration with Riccardo Grandi.
The Great Game (known as Il Grande Gioco in Italy and other territories) is being produced by Luca Barbareschi for Sky Studios and Italy’s Èliseo Entertainment. The series will launch in the UK on Sky Atlantic and on the streaming service NOW in November. NBCUniversal Global Distribution is in charge of its international sales, on behalf of Sky Studios.
