Written by the director, the story revolves around Malika El Yadari who must contend with the death of his little brother, who died while being questioned by the police. His grief is disrupted by the court proceedings, which jeopardise the family’s equilibrium…

After the Fire is produced by Michaël Gentile (alongside Garance Boulet as associate producer) on behalf of The Film, and by Robin Robles, Arthur Goisset and Bastien Daret on behalf of Topshot Films, in co-production with France 3 Cinéma and Bac Films (who will also manage distribution in French cinemas). Pre-purchased by France Télévisions, OCS and Netflix, the feature film also enjoys support from the Grand Est region, from the Eurométropole de Strasbourg, from the CNC’s Images de la Diversité Fund, and from the SOFICA companies Indéfilms and La Banque Postale Image. Sales are steered by Wild Bunch International.

Having kicked off on 31 October, shooting is unfolding in Strasbourg and the surrounding area until 14 December, with photography entrusted to Romain Carcanade (nominated for the cinematography Lumière Award in 2022 via The Swarm). Music is in the hands of Italian composer Andrea Boccadoro.

For the record, The Film are currently overseeing post-production on Isabelle Brocard’s Madame de Sévigné.
