The plot of his new feature follows a widowed fisherwoman (played by two-time Oscar winner Emma Thompson) who, while trapped in a Minnesotan blizzard, interrupts the kidnapping of a teenager, orchestrated by a waif (Greer) and her congenial husband (Menchaca), and soon realises that she is the young victim’s only hope.

The project is set to enter production on 26 February in Koli, Finland, and in the German region of North-Rhine Westphalia. The script was penned by Nicholas Jacobson-Larson and Dalton Leeb.

Stampede Ventures (USA) and augenschein Filmproduktion (Germany) are financing the picture with the support of Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, the DFFF and German broadcaster ZDF. North.five.six. (formerly known as Mossbank) and augenschein Sales are handling international sales, with CAA Media Finance repping the US rights. Moreover, Leonine (Germany) will be co-producing and distributing the project in German-speaking Europe.

Greg Silverman and Jon Berg are producing for Stampede Ventures, with Stampede’s Gideon Yu and Chris Bosco serving as executive producers. Meanwhile, Jonas Katzenstein and Maximilian Leo will produce for augenschein, with Jonathan Saubach serving as executive producer. Thompson is also credited as executive producer alongside Michael Rothstein and Samuel Hall, of north.five.six.

North.five.six. will continue selling the project at the upcoming European Film Market (15-21 February) in Berlin.
