Regulation

Citizens of certain countries must apply for a visa to enter Ireland before they travel here on business trips. Citizens of EU/EEA member states do not require a visa to travel to Ireland on business. (The members of the EEA are the 27 countries of the European Union (EU), together with Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein). Application fir visa must be done online.

While in most cases individuals from European Economic Area (EEA) countries do not need a work permit to take up employment within Ireland, non-EEA nationals will require authorization from the government.

It is recommended that you inform the relevant Local Authority for ALL exterior location filming. You can find a list of all local authorities. Alternatively do check the Network of Regional Film for a film contact located in the county you plan to work in.Enquiries relating to a part of Ireland not covered by a local office will be handled by the film commission directly (http://www.irishfilmboard.ie/filming_in_ireland/regional_contacts/)

Standard VAT rate in Ireland is 23% There are also reduced V.A.T. rates of 13.5%, 9% and 4.8%. VAT is charged on assets and services in Ireland as well as on imports into Ireland. VAT returns are made once every two months. In certain cases, it is possible to make a return once a year.

Copyright law of Ireland is applicable to most typical copyright situations (films, sound recordings books etc.) and includes a provision for "fair dealing," similar to that used by other countries.  The Irish law is entitled, “S.I. No. 337/2011 — European Communities (Electronic Communications Networks and Services) (Universal Service and Users' Rights) Regulations 2011."? The Irish Government is to conduct a review Ireland’s existing copyright legislation aimed at removing barriers to innovation.
