Nationals of the EU/EEA Member States and Switzerland are able to work without restriction in the UK,
For Bulgarian and Romanian citizens: they need to find an employer who applies for a work permit letter of approval from the UK Border Agency. Once this has been issued, they have to apply for an "accession worker card". This card is linked to a specific employer and job. If they want to change job, a new card has to be obtained.
Approvals under the work permit arrangements are generally only given for skilled jobs and where suitably qualified resident labour is unavailable to fill the vacancy. However, the work permit arrangements also include the Sector Based Scheme under which a quota of permits may be issued for lower skilled jobs in the food processing industry. There are a few exceptions to the requirement of obtaining a work permit and an accession worker card, for example the Seasonal Agricultural Workers Scheme and the Highly Skilled Workers Programme. - Citizens from all other countries need to go through a full work permit and residence permit application.
The UK has a streamlined permitting process. Local authorities all have dedicated film offices to get things processed efficiently and quickly. Permits in the cities generally require a minimum of 2 weeks notice however in certain circumstances this process can be reduced to 7 days. Films are generally free to shoot anywhere however commercial shoots are restricted from shooting on certain national sites such as government buildings. The following does apply though:
- Road closures require four weeks notice
- Parking units requires 5 days minimum notice
- Clearing a street of cars requires 10 days notice.

The types of work eligible for copyright protection include a literary, dramatic, artistic or musical work, the typographical arrangement of a published edition, a sound recording, a film, or a broadcast. Cinema films made before 1 June 1957, the date on which the Copyright Act 1956[1] came into force, are not protected as film. They are either protected as a dramatic work under the Copyright Act 1911 (the 1911 Act) or as a series of photographs. Wireless broadcasts prior to 1 June 1957 are not protected at all. The 1911 Act made no provision for them, as broadcasting had not as yet been invented when the Act was passed. Broadcasts by cable prior to 1 January 1985 are not protected at all either. Both the Acts of 1911 and 1956 made n o provision for broadcasts by cable, as they had not been defined and protected as either "works" or "broadcasts" of either Acts.
